History


Government Degree College, Satyavedu was established in the year 2008 to cater to the Higher Educational needs of people in and around Sathyavedu – a town bordering the states of Andhra Pradesh and Tamilnadu. The college was an outcome of the initiation of Sri. Narayana Swami, the then MLA of Sathyavedu. The college was housed in Government Junior College campus with a strength of 70 students in the year of inception. Four conventional courses: B.Sc (MPC), B.Sc (BZC), BA (HEP), and B.Com (Gen) - were offered by the college from AY 2008-2009.

The first principal of the college was Dr. S.L.N Prasad (FAC). In 2009 the college was shifted to Telugu Ganga office building where the college still continues to be run. The college has 2(f) status. In 2014 B.Com (Computer Applications) course was introduced in the college. In line with Sri Venkateswara University, Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) was adopted by the college from AY 2015-16. In accordance of NEP-2020, the curriculum was restructured and the college is presently following revised syllabus under CBCS framework introduced by Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE)

Now the college is running with the student strength of 140 students with three courses - B.Sc Chemistry Honors, B.A. Economics Honors and B.Com (CA)  in English Medium. The motto of the college is to ensure all round development of the students and to inculcate human values through curriculum.. The college is actively serving the student community through IQAC, JKC, WEC, DRC, NSS,  well equipped Library, Literary and arts activities and sports events.  The curricular, co-curricular and extra –curricular activities organized by the college enable the students to explore their hidden potentiality and excel in avenues of their interests, talents and passion.

The Principal, and staff of the college are sensitive to the dynamic changes in higher education and are upbeat with changing scenarios to serve the students of the college with the best.
